Merry Christmas 2009!!

This year my whole family was together for the holidays and I was thrilled to host the non stop party at my house.

Whenever my family gets together it is nothing but good times.
Last night we had our first annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Eve Party.
We got a little crazy. ;)
Enjoy...

I've heard that if your hand is bigger than your head, you have cancer.

Dont mess with the jingle bells that I sewed on by hand! You could hear me coming from the other room.

Santa needs a shave. Oh and....
xyzpdq!

I just like to smile. Smiling is my favorite.

It's a Christmas miracle.

The couple who wears a tree skirt together, stays together.
At least while they are wearing the tree skirt.

Joy to the world. The Lord is come.

Olan Mills. Circa 1981.

Drumroll please...

Announcing.....

The first prize winner and wearer of the ugliest sweater of the night, DAD!

"The little lights aren't twinkling. I know, and thanks for noticing."
(This sweater had battery powered twinkling lights all throughout it. Not visible under a flash but mesmerizing in person.)

I'm a cotton-headed ninny-muggins.

Christmas clowns. Who knew?

How you doin'?

Ho ho ho!! I want your boots.

We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

Bootylicious.

Welcome to our home.
What's left of it.

Every time a bell rings, and angel gets her wings.

No photo shoot is complete without the MK&AO shot.
Is it possible to be this adorable?

Most of the boys.

Most of the girls.

Christmas 2009 was one for the history books.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Help Portrait

My friend Holly who is always so quick to share her best photo links with me, sent me this one the other day. This post about Bill, struck me!! Deeply.

Go read her page and come back to me.
I'll wait for you....

* * *

So anyway, all of this got me thinking about Help Portrait. Dont know what Help Portrait is?? Then please watch this...

Inspiring right?!

So here's what I'm going to do.
I am very interested in taking YOUR picture and getting to know YOU better.
I want to give you a 1 to 2 hour photo session. 10 high res images on disc, (1) 8x10 and (2) 5x7's of your favorite images printed at a professional lab and delivered to your home via USPS.

The Rules...

1. You have to really want to have your picture taken. Luke warm desire will not do.

2. You have to be willing to work for a good picture.
As Cheryl Jacobs put it...A portrait session is a beautiful dance between photographer and subject; if either doesn’t participate, it’s just a recital.

3. You have to be in a position where this service will be a blessing for you.
For example, If you are rolling in the dough and just want to get something for free, I'm not your gal. If you are like most of us and are pressed for cash and would love to have professional photos done but cant afford to pay for them, then maybe I am your gal. :)

4. You have to be able to get to me. I am in Utah County. If you're out of state and are not planning a trip out here then I'm sorry.

5. Tell me why I should choose you. If you want photos done for you then tell me why! If you want to, you could enter for someone else who you think would be a good candidate.

6. I will accept your entries until Sunday night at midnight.

It's that simple.
Please participate.

My goal is to:
1. make something really beautiful and meaningful for you to treasure.
2. make a friend.
3. to be inspired.

By the way, because of the time of year we will not be scheduling this photo session until after the new year. I will be in touch with the winner and we will set up something that works for us both. :)

Mysterious Letters

Instead of being a responsible mother and helping my kids get ready for school this morning, I chose to surf the internet. (So the kids didn't eat breakfast today, it's not like their going to starve!!! Yeah, their tummies may growl a bit but maybe this way they will actually eat lunch!)

I visited the Yahoo home page and saw and interesting story. It led me HERE.

I have spent entirely too much time on this page. I am fascinated with these letters.
So creative and free flowing.
Funny and heart warming.
Bazaar and strange.
All of them wonderful!

I chose a few holiday favorites to post here but do yourself a favor, go check them all out. I hope you love them as much as I do and are inspired by Michael and Lenka's whimsical project.

This is such a wonderful time of year!! I want a letter like this in MY mailbox. Lenka? Michael? Anyone???

Now, I've gotta race the kids to the bus stop!

Oh and by the way, I was up at 5:30 am this morning (unheard of!) and went to a yoga class that completely kicked my butt! and my arms! and my abs! Oh boy, I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
